70 Park Avenue was a perfect location for our recent stay in New York. It’s only a couple of blocks from Grand Central; but also close enough to Penn Station that we walked from there and from the hotel to a party in Chelsea. 70 Park sits on a pristine block in the Murray Hill neighborhood with easy access to Fifth Avenue shopping, Bryant Park, Times Square and Rockefeller Center.
Our room had gorgeous views of million dollar rooftop gardens and stately church spires. The room was modest in size but decorated with the expected Kimpton originality and flair. The big, comfy king size bed was room enough for two with more than enough soft, fresh pillows to share. The staff was on hand around the clock with support and neighborhood suggestions, and a big umbrella when it rained.
“I take a deep breath and breath a piece of sky in my mouth”
Unfortunately, the Silverleaf Tavern closed down earlier than we expected which thwarted our nightcap and sent us across the street for one more cocktail. The tavern is open for breakfast each morning and cocktails at 5:00 p.m.
