We’re on our way to Portland (Oregon that is, because everyone asks) for the World Domination Summit. After a few giggles, my friends also ask what that is. The WDS is heavy on writers, travelers, and other “amazing people with big plans.” We’re hoping to glean some inspiration from it all.
We’re staying at the Portland Paramount Hotel, which is downtown near Director’s Park, the Portland Art Museum, and Nordstorm – not that we’re there to shop. The Paramount is an intimite boutique hotel with amenities like free wifi (love it!), coffee makers with Starbucks, and daily USA Today (for those of you that like your news light and in color).
We lucked out that the Waterfront Blues Festival coincides with our trip. And since it’s only a quick ten minute walk from the hotel, we plan on making it down to see the multiple stages of music including John Hiatt, an old favorite.
We’re taking a wine tour through the Willamette Valley with EverGreen Escapes. Our half day tour winds through the region with stops to learn about the local industy and, more importantly, includes lots of tastings.
We’re also planning on doing our own craft beer tour (also known as Friday night out) and a walking food truck tour (aka finding the best hangover food).
Have any personal favorites in Portland? Let us know, we’re always open to suggestion.
